CAVAS WINE LODGE

Opened sep 30, 2005- The Cavas Wine Lodge is located amid the snow-capped Andes Mountains and the fertile, green vineyards of Mendoza. It is the fist hotel in Mendoza dedicated to wine and all its secrets. Guests are drawn to the Cavas Wine Lodge for its privacy, tranquility and unmistakable romance. Guests are encouraged to indulge in wine, food, luxurious spa treatments and the surrounding natural beauty.

Cavas Wine Lodge is located less than 20 miles from the city of Mendoza, world renown for its quality wines, including Argentina’s signature wine varietal, Malbec. The lodge is the first and only South American hotel dedicated completely to wine. The lodge is not only close to many of the well-know Argentine wineries, but situated directly in the middle of 35 acres of vines. Its architecture, incorporating classic Spanish-style and soft-spoken luxury, echos the character of the Lujan de Cuyo region, a place to savour the bounty of fine food and wine and immerse oneself in an exquisite natural setting. Romance and all that it entails -- escape, total privacy, and the intimacy of having a beautiful spot to share -- is an important part of the allure of the Cavas Wine Lodge. Your hosts, Cecilia Chuit and Martin Rigal, know that even the best locations and offerings would be meaningless without outstanding guest service. It is their sincere wish that your stay be both romantic and memorable.

The lodge has 14 spacious (970 square feet) rooms, called vignettes because they are inside the vineyard. Every room has a view of the Andes Mountains, so that guests can enjoy a glass of wine on their terrace (with a burning fire) while watching the sun set behind the mountains. Each room also has its own plunge pool for guests to retreat during the Mendoza summer.

The soul of the lodge is its wine cellar (cava), which gives the lodge its name. The cava is underground providing the perfect temperature and atmosphere to store the best labels of Argentine wine. From the cava, a circular staircase leads directly to the library, the restaurant, and the Spa.

The Spa's inspiring Moorish-Roman architecture reveals pools, baths, and treatment areas unique in the wine country. Guests are able to enjoy sessions of vinotherapy, an ancient Roman practice in its original form: baths of honey and wine and various grape treatments that nourish and reinvigorate the skin. Other spa treatments are also available in the privacy of our guests’ terraces.

The cuisine of the Cavas Wine Lodge is of the highest quality. Its flavors represent the freshest local ingredients, producing a variety of traditional Argentine dishes.

Martin Rigal and Cecilia Diaz Chuit, the young proprietors who gave life to this wine lodge are already creating a wonderful atmosphere in every detail.

Regardless of the season, the wine country of Mendoza offers a myriad of activities and attractions that beckon you to explore the region famed for sunny skies and nature's blessings. Let yourself be tempted by visits to the local wineries or stroll through the historic Mendoza..

As from Jan 1, 2008, Cavas Wine Lodge is part of the prestigious Relais & Chateaux group.
